( 1956 to 2001 )

Johnny Cheam with his friends during one of his makan session in August 1999.

Johnny Cheam passed away at 6.15pm Monday, 12th. November 2001 at Sunway Medical Centre at the age of 45. He was stricken by a stroke on 30th. October 2001 at his home at Sierramas, Sungai Buloh, Kuala Lumpur.

Being an old boy of Bandar Hilir English School II (1963 to 1968) & Malacca High School (1969 to 1975), he was selected to be the Head Boy & Head Prefect of MHS in 1975, and led the school Scout Troop as a Troop Leader. He achieved his  King Scout award with me, Chee Yong & Seng Hui in 1973.

Graduated from the University of Manchester with an economics degree in 1979, he trained as an Accountant and worked for a few public listed companies in Malaysia since 1979.

Married to Joanne from Ipoh, Johnny & Joanne were blessed with three children, Michelle, Tat Chiang and Kimberly and stayed at their home which they designed & built at Sierramas, Sungai Buloh, Kuala Lumpur.

Johnny has a great passion for cooking especially cooking for friends, colleagues and relatives at home. His Hainanese Chicken Rice (especially the authentic chilly sauce) was exquisite together with his stewed duck, pork dishes and curries. He loved cooking and seeing us friends enjoying ourselves with a hearty meal, was a pleasure to him. Moreover, he can talk endlessly and continuously on any subject which at times he needed to be checked by us!

We will sadly miss you, your food & your chatter but we will always feel your presence wherever we are.

Friends Forever, Always In our Hearts & Stomachs

May you Rest in Peace, Johnny.
